Dear Rowell,
Colonial Office,
Palace Chambers,

Bridge Street,
S.W.1.
8th August, 1947.
Arad (12).
Your letter to me No. E.D.2603/45 of the 18th April, on the subject of the amendments to the Grant Code, was very helpful in clearing up for us a number of things that had not been entirely clear. There are however still one or two points that we have not succeeded in sorting out. We have not held up going to the Treasury for their approval of the proposals whilst we were still clearing up with you the final points of detail, but we would like to have the matter quite straight. The points in question on which we should like further information are the following:-
(a) In the detailed list attached to your letter Monks is shown as receiving a salary of £525, but in the statement of the general position his salary is shown as £570. We presume the latter figure is a misprint, since Monks does not hold a University degree, and that in fact the correct figure is £525. (b) Sister Henri is shown in the statement as drawing a salary of £606, but her name does not appear in the list included in Sir Mark Young's savingram No. 120 of the 14th March 1947.
(c) Dr. C. Woo is shown in your detailed list as drawing £ and in the general statement as
T.R. ROWELL, ESQ.
